The lead up to Halloween tends to see a rush of orders for me. Several sets of ear wings have been bought or custom ordered over the last week so the creative space is a little crazy right now. The sketch of my nephew has had to be put on hold for a little while as I get on top of custom orders.
Some of the pieces I've been building have had a remarkable sense of magic about them.
I've also been getting myself into a healthier art habit, making drawing and making happen at bare minimum once a week, though usually every second day. It's good to feed the art habit, it helps to feed the soul. I bought some lovely tinted textured papers which I want to use for re-visiting a drawing style I explored some in my Degree in Visual Arts. It was over 10 years ago now, and I don't have good photos, but I remember enough to give me a start and it's fun to play with the calligraphic arcs again. I've taken to carrying a new small sketchbook with me, and playing with conte or a calligraphy pen or just sketching in graphite helps to wake up that way of seeing. It feels good, and maybe I'll have some saleable items after some more practise and play. Provided I get some time after this rush of orders of course.
Time to get into that art room I suppose.

Hearing Aid Accessories
I realised I hadn't shared any of my hearing aid pretties here. Given I've had them in production for a few years this was definitely overdue.
They've been a fun project, and I'm enjoying the ways they evolve over time as I learn more and test new ideas.
They're happily adaptable, working beautifully for adults and children, and I love the idea of helping people feel good about wearing their hearing aids and cochlear implants. I've had wonderful feedback from customers too, which does a lot for the artist's ego.
My shop is still pottering along. I've been making many beautiful wings and things. And I still love doing custom pieces.
Feeding my art
Lately I've been working to get my hand back in and feed my art. This means I've got another collection of projects going at once.
I've been working on a sketch of my nephew from a photo I took of him last year(? I think?). It's in my gallery and it's pretty amazing.
I've started a new sketch book to carry with me, with the goal of drawing/being artistic every couple of days, with a bare minimum of once a week.
And just the last couple of days I made several sales in my Etsy shop so I'm busy on ear wing commissions.
I've also bought some lovely textured faintly tinted paper I'm intending on cutting up to revisit my calligraphic drawings f
Remembrance.
Some years ago I had a good friend. A fierce, passionate, fiery and strong woman by the name of Aveline. She passed away from an aneurysm early 2007. I've been thinking of her a lot lately. And this set of ear wings was just itching at me, it knew how it wanted to look and it just needed to be made. Thus, they came into being quite quickly.
I've been pottering along on a few projects recently. Some sewing of little cushions from recycled materials, a lot of weaving willow into crowns and bracelets.
It's hard to feed the artistic reserves. I'd like to get out to galleries more often but realistically it's just not happening at the moment. An
